Ỷ La Temple is a site of immense cultural and spiritual significance in Tuyên Quang Province. Founded in 1743, it is part of a sacred trinity of temples and serves as the starting point for grand annual Mother Goddess processions. Visitors are drawn not only by the rich history associated with princess legends, but also by the authentic architecture of the Nguyễn dynasty.

What you need to know
The temple was built to honor Princess Phương Dung and is an excellent example of 18th-century Vietnamese architecture. Its architectural layout is shaped like the Chinese character "工" (công), and its facade is decorated with skillful carvings of dragons and phoenixes.
What to see:
- Royal Decrees: The temple preserves 6 valuable decrees from four emperors of the Nguyễn dynasty.
- Cultural Artifacts: 16 ancient statues, old bells, and ritual vessels.
- Processions: Witness the unique palanquin procession, which takes place twice a year (February and July) and is rightly considered a "living museum" of folk traditions.
The peak of cultural activity coincides with the Mother Goddess procession days (mid-February and July according to the lunar calendar).
