The Tuyen Quang Provincial Museum is a modern category II cultural institution opened in 2010. The museum occupies a unique location, built on an island in the middle of Tan Quang Lake. The architecture of the three-story building, covering over 1,200 m², harmoniously combines traditional Vietnamese design elements with modern exhibition spaces.

What you need to know

The museum's collections hold about 21,500 items, including unique finds. Key exhibits include: a Paleolithic human fossil (12,000 years old) with a rare ritual burial, Ly dynasty ceramics, and ancient bronze drums.

The exhibition is divided into four parts:

  • Nature and Ethnic Groups: features costumes of the Tay, Dao, Mong, Pa Then, and San Chay peoples.
  • History: from ancient periods to the struggle for national independence.
  • Central Hall: adorned with a monumental wooden bas-relief "Capital of the Liberated Zone".
