The mausoleum of the 12th emperor of the Nguyen dynasty was recognized as a UNESCO site in 1993. Its architecture is radically different from other tombs in Hue: here you can feel Western influence, expressed in concrete and steel structures skillfully concealed beneath complex porcelain and glass mosaics.
When visiting, pay attention to the impressive facade featuring sculptures of dragons, elephants, and mandarins. To reach the mausoleum itself, you will need to climb 127 steps. Inside, exquisite gilded interiors and carved decorations await you, creating an atmosphere of absolute grandeur.
The dry season is the ideal time to visit. Summer (July) brings high humidity and heat, so it is best to plan your visit for the early morning (07:00–09:30).
