What you need to know
Phai Ve Hill is a national historical and cultural monument of Vietnam. Archaeological discoveries made here in 1998 indicate human settlements dating back 5,000–4,500 years. During the war for independence, the hill played an important role in storing food and supplying Vietnamese soldiers.
The main feature of the modern location is the 80-meter flagpole built in 2014. The architecture of the staircase with bamboo-shaped railings resembles a miniature Great Wall of China. Climbing to the summit involves conquering 535 stone steps, which offer breathtaking views of Lang Son city and the Ky Cuong River.
Dry season with comfortable temperatures. It is especially recommended to visit during the full moon of the first lunar month during the Tam Thanh festival.
