Fansipan (Vietnamese: Phan Xi Păng) is the highest point of the Indochina Peninsula. Located in Lào Cai Province in northwestern Vietnam, it is part of the picturesque Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. Administratively, the mountain marks the boundary between Tam Đường District in Lai Châu Province and the town of Sapa, which is just 9 km away from the mountain.
The history of conquering the mountain began in the early 20th century with French mountaineers. Today, it is a developed tourist hub made easily accessible thanks to a modern cable car.
