What to know
Dieu De Pagoda was founded on the site of the former residence of Emperor Thieu Tri's maternal grandfather. The entire palace complex covered about 2,500 square meters and included the Dai Hung main hall, the bell tower, the drum tower, and other structures.
Main attractions:
- "Long Van Khe Hoi" painting: This is the main jewel of the temple, recorded in the Vietnam Guinness Book of Records as the oldest and largest ceiling painting in the country. The 110-square-meter artwork depicts nine dragons symbolizing longevity.
- Ancient bells: Two large bronze bells are masterpieces of applied art, reflecting the synthesis of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Daoism.
- Architectural heritage: The main hall building still bears the traits of the Nguyen dynasty imperial style. Despite many destructions and subsequent restorations (including moving the main building 19 meters back in 2018), the pagoda retains its authentic beauty.
Dry season with comfortable temperatures. Fewer tourists on weekdays.
