History and Memorial Complex
Hill D1 was the eastern defensive outpost of the French forces. In 2004, to mark the 50th anniversary of the victory, the Victory Monument was erected here—a large-scale bronze sculpture (16.6 meters high) depicting Vietnamese soldiers. The complex is complemented by an impressive 58-meter-long bas-relief consisting of 217 blue stone panels that detail the key stages of the military campaign.
