An Ma Temple is a unique religious worship site located on a limestone island in the heart of Ba Be Lake. The island, shaped like a turtle and rising 30 meters above the water, is surrounded by greenery all year round and attracts lovers of peaceful relaxation and spiritual solitude.

What you need to know
According to legend, the temple was built in memory of the loyal officials of the Mac dynasty who died during feudal wars. The name "An Ma" in the Tay ethnic language means "peaceful graves". The temple was rebuilt in 2007 and is currently dedicated to the Buddha, the Mountain Mother Goddess, the Mountain Lord, and Saint Tran.
This place is an important spiritual center: locals come here to burn incense and pray for the well-being of their families. The island is surrounded by untouched wilderness, and access to the shrine is exclusively by boat over the water.
The best time to visit is the 6th day of the second lunar month, when the An Ma Festival takes place and blooming orchids adorn the island.
