Unlike the lavish tombs of other rulers, this tomb was built according to the wish of Emperor Thiệu Trị — without excesses, so as not to burden the people with hard labor and taxes.

What you need to know
The mausoleum is located in Cư Chánh village (Thủy Bằng commune) and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage complex. The landscape of the complex is organized according to feng shui canons: Vọng Canh hill serves as a protective screen, while the surrounding mountains symbolize the "left Azure Dragon and right White Tiger".
The architecture of the complex demonstrates the elegance of the Nguyễn dynasty, combining features of the tombs of Minh Mạng and Gia Long. The territory is divided into two key zones: the tomb area and the temple complex with the honor courtyard and the stele pavilion.
The best time to visit is the dry season, when the weather is ideal for walking around the complex.
