The Presidential Palace is an impressive European neoclassical building constructed in the early 20th century as the residence of the Governor-General of French Indochina. Today, it is an important historical site located in the heart of the Ba Đình district, where the colonial past intertwines with the history of Vietnam's struggle for independence under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh.

What you need to know
The building was erected between 1900 and 1906 by French architects and features classical columns and Italian Renaissance elements. After 1954, President Ho Chi Minh refused to live in this "symbol of colonial oppression," using it only for official receptions.
What to see on site:
- Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House — the place where the president lived and worked for the last 15 years of his life.
- Botanical Gardens — a picturesque area with a fish pond and the famous "Mango Alley."
- Historical Houses No. 54 and No. 67, which complement the memorial complex.
Please note: the palace itself is closed to visitors; exploration is only available along the outer perimeter and the park grounds.
The winter season is more comfortable for walking around the complex. It is recommended to arrive at opening time (in the morning) to avoid queues and crowds of tour groups.
