The Thanh Hoa Museum is a vital cultural institution in the province, preserving over 30,000 ancient artifacts. It is a unique place to trace the region's history from the Paleolithic era to the eras of great dynasties, as well as to view the country's largest collection of legendary Dong Son bronze drums.

What you need to know
The museum is divided into thematic halls covering key stages of Vietnam's history:
- Prehistoric period: features stone tools and animal fossil remains up to 400,000 years old.
- Dong Son culture: the centerpiece of the exhibition. The museum takes pride in its collection of 136 Heger Type I bronze drums.
- National treasures: the holdings include three official national treasures, including the famous Nua Mountain short sword and the exquisite Xuan Lap bowl.
Additionally, the museum broadly features exhibits from the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen dynasties, including weapons, jewelry, and ceramics.
