Founded in 1948, the Munirangsyaram Khmer Buddhist Temple is an important spiritual and architectural center in the Vietnamese city of Can Tho. Known for its unique Khmer style reminiscent of the famous Angkor Wat, the temple serves as a place of worship and a key venue for traditional festivals of the Khmer community.

What you need to know
The temple has evolved from a bamboo structure into an exquisite complex where key elements include the triple-tiered gates symbolizing the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The main prayer hall (ubosot), erected in 1964, is elevated above the ground and decorated with golden cornices and columns. Inside, visitors will find a monumental statue of Shakyamuni Buddha and detailed murals illustrating his life. The temple grounds also serve as the headquarters of the Can Tho United Buddhist Monks Association.
It is recommended to visit in the morning hours or just before sunset, when the golden architectural elements shine especially brightly in the soft light.
