History
Tam Toa Church is a significant historical site located on the banks of the Nhat Le River in Dong Hoi City. The ruins of the old church, destroyed during the war in 1965, are today a provincial cultural-historical relic and a war crimes memorial.

History and Architecture
The church was built in 1886 by priest Claude Bonin in the Gothic style with elements of Portuguese architecture. In 1940, the church was reconstructed, but after 1954 it gradually fell into neglect. On February 11, 1965, the building was completely destroyed by an airstrike. To this day, only the bell tower, over 10 meters high, remains as a testimony to the scale of destruction of that era.
New Church
In 2006, 2 km away from the ruins, construction of the modern Tam Toa Church began on Thong Nhat Street, Nam Ly. The new building replicates the Gothic style and features two towers, each 35 meters high.
Cultural Significance
This place is closely connected with Vietnamese literature: in 1912, the famous poet Han Mac Tu was baptized in the old church. The location of the ruins on the banks of the Nhat Le River gives them a uniquely poetic atmosphere, attracting tourists interested in Vietnam's historical heritage.
