What to know
The journey begins in Van Lam village, from where tourists are taken by boat deep into the complex. The main feature of Tam Coc is its three unique caves:
Hang Ca (First Cave)
— the largest (250 m), decorated with stalactites of bizarre shapes.
Hang Hai (Second Cave)
— a 60-meter tunnel with a beautiful vault, located one kilometer from the first.
Hang Ba (Third Cave)
— a small one (50 m), resembling a naturally carved dome, considered the most picturesque.
Boats are traditionally rowed by local women who are famous for their rowing skills — often even using their feet.
The best time to visit, when the rice paddies are bright green and the weather remains cool and dry, which is ideal for boat trips.
