What you need to know
The village originated in the early 20th century and today counts more than 2,000–3,000 farming households. The main feature of Sa Dec is the bamboo and wooden platforms upon which the pots stand. This protects the roots from Tien River floods and ensures excellent ventilation.
More than 2,000 species of plants are grown here: from roses and orchids to exquisite bonsai. The best time to visit is December and January, before the Tet holiday, when the village turns into an endless blooming garden before products are shipped across Vietnam and abroad. Although right now (late July) is the off-season, it is a great opportunity to see the daily lives of farmers without tourist crowds.
Peak season: preparation for Tet celebrations. The village is at its most colorful, and the best photo zones are open.
