The Red Sand Dunes are a popular natural attraction on the south-central coast of Vietnam. Due to the high iron content in the sand, the dunes acquire a unique red-orange hue, which is especially impressive in the light of sunrise and sunset. What you need to know
The dunes reach heights of 20–30 meters and constantly change shape under the influence of the wind. Despite the name, the color of the sand varies from yellow to deep reddish-orange depending on the lighting. Their convenient location near Huỳnh Thúc Kháng Road makes them an ideal place to visit without long travel times. Visitors can rent plastic boards for sliding down the slopes from locals or simply stroll along the ridges of the dunes.
This is the ideal time to catch the best light for photos and avoid the exhausting heat when the sand becomes very hot.
