What you need to know
The reserve is nestled between two mountain ridges. Its name in the local Thai language means "the highest peak of the village," with its highest point reaching 1,700 meters. It is home to a vast number of rare animal and bird species, including clouded leopards and Asian black bears.
Visitors can enjoy trekking routes (such as the 11-kilometer trail from Pu Luong village to Bang village) and outdoor activities: bamboo rafting on the Ma River, exploring caves (Kho Muong, Khoai, Tam Mo), and admiring the rice fields. Thanks to ecotourism policies, conservation rules are strictly enforced here, preserving the pristine nature of these places.
The best time to visit is late May to early June (rice planting season) or September–October (harvest season and golden terraced fields). The climate is cool year-round.
