What to know
The museum officially opened on December 16, 2007, and houses over 6,000 artifacts. Its concept is radically different from classical museums: there are no boring glass display cases here. The exhibition is integrated into the natural landscape and the architecture of four traditional stilt houses (Lang, Au, Noc, and Noc Troi) representing various social strata of society.
Key exhibits:
- A collection of over 100 ancient gongs;
- Ancient bronze drums and daily utensils;
- Traditional ceramics, weaving, and hunting tools;
- Unique bamboo calendars.
Visitors can not only look but also participate: the museum offers gong-playing lessons, Muong culinary workshops, and traditional games. Simple on-site accommodation is also available for those wishing to stay longer.
Dry season with comfortable temperatures. Visiting on weekdays is recommended to avoid crowds. During the summer months, the valley provides pleasant shade among the green trees.
