Phù Lãng Pottery Village is located 60 km from Hanoi and is known for its unique ceramic style originating in the 13th century. This place attracts those looking for an authentic immersion experience in traditional craft: dragon wood-fired kilns and manual pottery wheels are still used here. In 2016, Phù Lãng pottery was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.

History and Production
The craft traces its roots back to Lưu Phong Tú, who introduced pottery techniques to the Red River Delta in the 13th century. The uniqueness of Phù Lãng products lies in the use of special red clay and wood ash glaze, giving the ceramics deep chestnut and yellowish hues ("eel skin").
What to See
- Dragon kilns (lò rồng): Traditional slope kilns heated up to 1200°C.
- Community house (đình): An ancient building dedicated to the patron saint of the craft.
- Workshops: Places where ritual, household, and decorative ceramics are created.
- Participation: The "Potter's Day" program allows you to try your hand at the wheel (note that the finished product cannot be taken away on the same day).
During this period, the weather is most comfortable, and kilns operate at increased capacity ahead of the Tết holiday. Avoid July and August due to intense heat and heavy rain.
