Bat Trang Ceramic Village is one of Hanoi's seven most important traditional craft centers. It is a living embodiment of Vietnamese history, where the secrets of creating glazed tableware and decor have been passed down from generation to generation since the 14th century. What you need to know
Bat Trang's history dates back to the Ly-Tran dynasty era. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, products from this village became world-renowned, exported to Europe and Asian countries. In 2019, the village was officially recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam.
Today, over 200 enterprises and 1,000 workshops operate here, preserving the technology of making glaze from ash and alluvial soil. In addition to the market opened in 2004, it is worth visiting the Viet Soul Art Museum, which houses ceramic works from various eras.
The dry season with comfortable temperatures is the ideal time for walks through the village. The village is open year-round, but a visit is most pleasant during the dry months.
