Ông Pagoda is a unique historical site founded in 1821 by the Chinese community in the Thu Xà area. For over 200 years, the temple has become not only a spiritual center but also a true museum of architectural art, combining Vietnamese and Chinese traditions. In 1993, the pagoda was designated a Vietnamese national monument.

What you need to know
The pagoda covers an area of 2,730 m² and faces east. Its architectural ensemble includes a temple courtyard, a ceremonial entrance gate (tam quan), and the main building with yin-yang tile roofing decorated with dragon and phoenix figures.
The interior is rich in intricate wood and ceramic carvings. It houses 6 ancient stone steles (1895–1920) and a bronze bell cast in 1899. The temple follows the "Saints in front, Buddha in the back" canon: the main hall is dedicated to the god of war Guan Yu, while the inner sanctum houses the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and the Goddess of Fortune.
The dry season is the most favorable time for exploring temple complexes in Quảng Ngãi province.
