What you need to know
The Le Loi Monument was officially inaugurated on November 29, 2004. The 15.7-meter-tall sculpture was erected in honor of the emperor who led the Lam Son uprising (1427) against the Ming dynasty, restoring Vietnam's independence.
The monument is made of blue stone and weighs over 480 tons. Behind the main statue are three massive bas-reliefs depicting key events: the course of the uprising, the coronation of Le Loi, and the legend of returning the sacred sword to the Golden Turtle deity. The complex is located in front of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Administration building at: Đại lộ Nguyễn Hoàng, phường Đông Hải, thành phố Thanh Hóa.
