What you need to know
The lighthouse was designed by French architect Snavat and commissioned in 1900. This grandiose octagonal structure, standing 65 meters tall (including the base), holds the status of the tallest lighthouse in the country. The uniqueness of the lighthouse lies in its construction technique: the granite sections are perfectly fitted together without any bonding mortar.
Although access inside the tower has been closed since 2016 for safety reasons, visitors can land on the island to appreciate the architecture up close, take impressive photos, and learn the history of the 86 builders whose cemetery is located at the foot of the monument, which was recognized as an official historical site in 2025.
The dry season, when the sea is calmest, ensures a comfortable boat crossing and the best conditions for sightseeing.
