Dinh Cau Temple is a picturesque sanctuary located on the rocky cape of Mui Dinh Cau at the mouth of the Duong Dong River. Built in 1937, this complex combines a religious site and an active lighthouse, serving as a vital spiritual center for local fishermen praying for safe voyages. For tourists, it is one of the island's most iconic locations, famous for its panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand and incredible sunsets.

What you need to know
The temple and lighthouse were erected in 1937 by the island's Chinese community. It is dedicated to the sea goddess Thien Hau (Mazu), the Buddha, and Taoist deities. The white lighthouse tower with its red dome continues to perform a navigational function for ships, although entry inside the lighthouse itself is closed to visitors.
To reach the sanctuary, visitors must climb 29 stone steps. The site is an active religious location: rituals are held here on the 1st and 15th days of each lunar month, and once a year, the vibrant Dinh Cau Festival takes place with water competitions and ceremonies.
The best time to visit, when the weather is sunny and cool, which is ideal for outdoor sightseeing.
