What You Need to Know
The construction of the pass between 1959 and 1965 stands as a testament to the feat achieved by 16 ethnic minority groups. The winding road hugs sheer cliff faces without safety barriers, making it one of the country's most hazardous and thrilling routes.
Visitors frequent the viewpoints overlooking the Tu San canyon and descend to the Nho Que River for boat rides. The boat pier is located 5 km from the main highway. Weather here is volatile: frequent fogs and strong crosswinds demand extreme caution from drivers.
The best period for clear visibility and stable weather. In the morning (after 10:00 AM), the mist over the canyon clears away, revealing the finest panoramic views.
