What to know
Completed in 2010, the modern flag tower stands 33.15 meters tall and features an octagonal shape. Its structure is adorned with bas-reliefs inspired by Dong Son bronze drum patterns, and the massive 54 m² flag represents Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups.
The path to the top of Dragon Mountain winds through 839 stone steps, making the climb a moderate physical challenge (30–60 minutes). The summit offers a breathtaking panorama of the Dong Van Karst Plateau and the mysterious "Dragon's Eye" lakes at the base. This historical site is worth visiting for its combination of deep patriotic spirit and the pristine beauty of the northern mountains.
The optimal time to visit is autumn and early spring, when the weather is dry and clear. It is recommended to avoid the period from December to February due to fog, as well as the summer months due to the risk of landslides.
