Vàm Hồ Bird Sanctuary, located in Ba Tri district of Bến Tre province, is 67 hectares of natural mangrove forest. Established in 1986, it has become an important migration and nesting point for thousands of waterbirds, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the untouched atmosphere of the Mekong Delta.

What to know
The sanctuary is a habitat for 82 bird species, many of which are listed in Vietnam's Red List. The flora includes 179 plant species, including mangroves and nipa palms. The ecosystem is complemented by a variety of local animals: turtles, snakes, and crabs live here. The most spectacular time is the breeding season (October–April), when colonies of storks and herons are especially active.
Bird activity peaks during this period. The best time for observation is at dawn or dusk, when birds leave their nests en masse or return to them.
