Good to know
The Phong Quang Nature Reserve is a region of incredible biodiversity, home to over 1,133 plant species, including extremely rare timber trees such as amboyna and ebony. The territory is covered by medium-altitude mountains reaching up to 1,076 meters and is riddled with karst caves.
Main points of interest include:
- Caves: Khỉ (Monkey), Tham Luồng (Current), Pắc Tà, and Suối Cụt.
- Ethnographic locations: Traditional stilt house villages where you can experience the lifestyle of the Hmong and Dao people.
- Natural landscapes: Steep rock faces and terraced rice paddies.
The best time to visit: September–October is the rice-ripening season on the terraces, and October–November is the buckwheat blooming season. The weather during this period is most comfortable for trekking and photography.
