The Buckwheat Flower Triangle is not just a natural phenomenon, but a symbol of life on the harsh limestone slopes of the Dong Van plateau. At the end of the season, buckwheat colors the valleys of Ha Giang province in a palette from pale pink to deep dark red, creating some of the most picturesque landscapes in Vietnam.

What you need to know
The Buckwheat Flower Triangle (Tam Giác Mạch) got its name from the shape of the plant's petals. It is a crop capable of surviving in the harsh conditions of limestone mountains where other plants perish.
The tourist peak occurs in October. During this time, the flowers undergo a color transformation: from white to pink, and then to rich purple and red. The most popular locations include the Sung La valley, the area around the Lung Cu Flag Tower, and the impressive Ma Pi Leng Pass. Every year in November, the Tam Giác Mạch festival is held here with traditional ethnic performances and festivities.
The flowering season lasts from late September to December, peaking in October.
