What you need to know
The museum occupies an impressive area and houses about 6,300 artifacts. The exhibition is divided into three key sections: the ancient history of Phu Yen, the period of revolution and resistance, and modern life.
Key exhibits:
- Cham heritage: volcanic stone sculptures, including the rare Kala relief (national treasure), ritual objects.
- Archaeology: stone tools of the Hoa Binh culture and Dong Son bronze drums over 2,000 years old.
- Nguyen Dynasty: a unique collection of 73 copper seals showcasing the local administration system of past centuries.
- Military equipment: a 4,000 m² open-air area displaying tanks, artillery, and an aircraft.
Since the exhibit labels are predominantly in Vietnamese, tourists are advised to use a pocket translator or hire a guide.
The most comfortable time for a trip to Phu Yen. Outside the rainy season, visiting the museum will be a great addition to your sightseeing itinerary in the region.
