Hang Pagoda (known as Kompong Nigrodha — "Sacred Banyan") is a unique architectural monument and the spiritual center of the Khmer community. Spanning 6 hectares, the pagoda combines a religious heritage with a natural sanctuary for storks and herons.

What you need to know
The pagoda was founded in 1637 and officially recognized as a provincial-level heritage site in 2025. The architectural ensemble includes traditional triple gates, the main sanctuary, and worship halls. Special attention should be paid to the natural surroundings: half of the territory is occupied by centuries-old gardens that have become home to hundreds of birds.
In addition to its religious function, Hang Pagoda is an educational center: it teaches the Khmer language, Pali, and traditional crafts (woodcarving). Historically, the temple is known as an important stronghold during the resistance war against colonialism.
The most comfortable weather for walking around the garden grounds. Important Buddhist ceremonies take place in March and April, and during the Tet holiday, the temple is visited by numerous pilgrims.
