Gao Giong is a vast natural park covering over 1,500 hectares, which has become a symbol of eco-tourism in Dong Thap province. Located in the heart of the Dong Thap Muoi region, it offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the pristine atmosphere of the Mekong Delta, stroll along canals among mangrove thickets, and see rare bird species in their natural habitat.

What to know
Opened in 2003 on the site of abandoned rice fields, the park has today transformed into a thriving nature reserve. Its crown jewel is the 40-hectare bird sanctuary, home to over 200 species of birds, including many rare species of the Mekong Delta.
What to see:
- Mangrove Forest: A unique ecosystem that is especially impressive during the flood season (May–September), when lotuses, dien dien acacia trees, and water lilies bloom.
- Observation Tower: An 18-meter tower offering a bird's-eye view of the entire park.
- Fish Farm: The largest in the region, raising snakehead fish and other traditional fish species.
- Leisure: Over 70 km of canals are available for boat rides on traditional sampans or motorboats. Binoculars are provided for nature lovers to observe nesting birds.
The flood season is the best time to visit. Water levels rise, creating picturesque landscapes with blooming lotuses, and birds are at their most active during the nesting period.
