Cua Ong Temple is a majestic temple complex located on a hill in Cam Pha City. Founded over 700 years ago, it is dedicated to Tran Dynasty general Tran Quoc Tang, a hero in the struggle against Mongol invaders. This place attracts visitors not only for its spiritual significance and unique architecture, but also for stunning views of Bai Tu Long Bay, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

What you need to know
Spanning 180,000 square meters, the complex consists of three temples located on different levels: the Lower Temple (Mother Goddess), the Middle Temple (protectors of the sea and mountains), and the Upper Temple (the main temple dedicated to the Tran lineage).
Main attractions:
- Statue of Tran Quoc Tang: A 10-meter-tall, 40-ton statue at the top of the hill.
- Artistic Treasures: 34 ancient statues of royals and military commanders in seated postures.
- Architecture: Unique facade hall designs demonstrating the craftsmanship of past centuries.
The temple was designated as a special national historical monument in 2017.
Most comfortable weather for climbing the stairs. It is recommended to avoid July and August due to high heat and the main temple festival period (January–February) if you prefer privacy.
