What you need to know
The ancient name of the island is Chang Son, which translates as "Chang Mountain". The area is famous for its diverse landscapes: from the popular Hong Van beach with developed infrastructure for kayaking to the unique rock formations of Mong Rong (Dragon's Claw), resembling "dragon claws".
Key attractions include a late 19th-century lighthouse rising 110 meters above sea level and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex — the only place where a monument to the president was erected during his lifetime. The island is also an important nature reserve with forests housing rare animal species.
The most favorable time to visit, when the sea is calm and the risk of typhoons and heavy rain is minimal.
