What you need to know
The temple was built between 1637 and 1653 with funds from Hoi An's Chinese merchant community. It is dedicated to Quan Cong, a mythical hero personifying courage, justice, and nobility.
Inside the sanctuary, you will see a gilded statue of Quan Cong surrounded by figures of his companions, as well as a symbolic statue of a white horse. The temple's architecture impresses with its attention to detail: from curved roofs with mythical creatures to carved wooden panels and red columns.
The temple is a Vietnam National Heritage site and part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Every two years, in July, a three-day festival is held here featuring traditional dragon dances and ceremonial processions.
The dry season with comfortable weather is ideal for leisurely strolls through the historic center of Hoi An.
