History
Nghe Temple (Ancient An Bien Temple) is a historically significant site founded in honor of General Le Chan, who played a key role in the Trung sisters' uprising against Chinese occupation in 43 AD. The temple is not only a place of spiritual worship but also an important architectural monument combining the unique traditions of the Nguyen dynasty with a rich collection of stone artifacts.

History and Architecture
The temple was built in honor of the founder of Hai Phong city, General Le Chan. The temple's architecture, shaped between 1919 and 1926, features a striking two-story structure with eight curved roofs shaped like worshiping dragons. The inner sanctuary houses a statue of the general and altars dedicated to her parents.
What to See
The temple is famous for its stone sculptures:
- Stone Bell: 1 meter tall, adorned with a delicate relief "Heavenly Meeting of Dragons."
- Stone Stela: Preserves the biography and deeds of the general in classical Chinese characters.
- Wooden Sculptures: Depictions of the four sacred animals (dragons, unicorns, turtles, phoenixes). The grounds also house an altar to the "Four Goddesses" who govern the forces of nature.
The best time to visit is the 8th day of the second lunar month, when the traditional Le Chan Festival takes place, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
