History of the Battle
On the night of January 25–26, 1960, revolutionary forces carried out an operation to capture the Tua Hai base. After a three-hour battle, the strategic facility was brought under control, serving as a catalyst for the anti-government uprising in the south of the country.
What to See
The monumental complex includes:
- Memorial stele and sculptural composition: figures of two armed revolutionaries against the backdrop of a stone slab with golden characters.
- Artistic relief: a vivid depiction of scenes from the 1960 battle.
- Museum exhibition: includes a tactical map with LED indicators, weapons displays, military documents, and a model of the base (museum access is available by prior arrangement with the administration).
The status of a national historical heritage site was officially established by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Information of Vietnam in 1993.
The dry season is ideal for exploring the monument grounds and walking through the surrounding rural landscapes with rice fields.
