The Hoi An Museum of Folk Culture, opened in 2005, is a unique portal into the trading port's past. Located in a grand historic building with a through-passage connecting Nguyen Thai Hoc and Bach Dang streets, the museum introduces visitors to the crafts, art, and daily life of local residents who shaped the region's character over the centuries.

History and Exhibits
The museum occupies a 19th-century building, a jewel of Hoi An architecture. Measuring 57 meters in length, the house features a classical Chinese layout with a courtyard that creates ideal conditions for natural lighting.
What to see:
- Folk art: a collection of sculptures, ceramics, and porcelain.
- Performing arts: regalia for the unicorn dance and local Ba Dao and Bai Trai singing traditions.
- Traditional crafts: from lantern and silk making to medicine production.
- Daily life: ancient tools used by farmers and fishermen.
On the ground floor, you can see massive looms and take a calligraphy workshop with a local teacher.
The museum is open daily (except the 20th of every month). Morning is the best time when the pedestrian streets of the Ancient Town are not yet crowded with tourists.
