History
The Symbol of Friendship Memorial is a majestic complex dedicated to the memory of Soviet, Russian, and Vietnamese service members who gave their lives for peace and stability in the region. It is a unique landmark for Vietnam, emphasizing the deep historical and emotional ties between the two nations. Surrounded by a well-maintained park area, the memorial serves as a place of remembrance and tranquility.

What you need to know
The memorial is a 21-meter granite obelisk weighing 800 tons. The architectural design features figures of a Vietnamese sailor, a Soviet pilot, and a child with a dove of peace. One of the key details is the bow of a ship shape with a white mast pointing toward the sky, reflecting the desire for cooperation between the naval and air forces of both countries.
The memorial plaques are engraved with the names of 44 Soviet and Russian military personnel, as well as 176 Vietnamese service members. The site was opened on December 10, 2009, and was designed by sculptor Nguyen Quoc Thang.
The midday sun can be very intense here, so for a comfortable visit, we recommend choosing early morning or sunset hours.
