The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a unique scientific and cultural center, opened in 1997 under the auspices of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. It is an ideal place for those who want to better understand the traditions, daily life, and history of the 54 ethnic groups that make up the rich diversity of the Vietnamese nation.

What you need to know
The museum's collection contains about 30,000 artifacts. The exhibition is divided into two parts:
Indoor exhibition (2,000 m²):
five halls where artifacts are grouped by language family (Viet-Muong, Tay-Thai, Hmong-Dao, Mon-Khmer, Malayo-Polynesian, etc.).
Outdoor exhibition (20,000 m²):
a vast area that recreates traditional houses and the cultural space of six regions of Vietnam — from the northern mountains to the southern plains.
On weekends, visitors can enjoy free traditional music and dance performances.
The museum is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It is recommended to arrive before noon to avoid daytime crowds. Closed on Mondays.
