History and architecture
The Diocese of Thai Binh was established in 1936, and the modern cathedral building, erected on the site of the old church, was consecrated on October 13, 2007. The dimensions of the church are striking: 79 meters long, 25 meters wide, and vault heights reaching 27 meters. Two bell towers rising 48 meters high are visible from many points in the city.
The architectural style of the cathedral harmoniously combines classical Gothic traditions with elements of Vietnamese architecture. The complex also includes a four-story service building and the bishop's residence. Today, the cathedral serves as a unifying link for the diocese's 102 parishes.
The dry season with moderate humidity is the best time to visit Thai Binh province and explore the cathedral in comfortable conditions.
