Dong Sam is a place with a rich history where silvercrafting is a way of life. The village is known for its skilled artisans whose works in chasing and repoussé techniques once adorned the royal courts of the Nguyen dynasty. Today, it is a living heritage: over 150 workshops operate here, preserving unique metalworking skills that are valued both in Vietnam and on the international market.

What you need to know
The village craft originated in the 15th century thanks to Nguyen Kim Lau. A characteristic feature of Dong Sam products is the unique use of silver's reflective properties, creating an expressive play of light and shadow.
Tourists are invited to visit the workshops to witness the multi-stage process of creating masterpieces, or participate in educational masterclasses. A mandatory stop on the route is the Dong Sam temple complex, which includes the Trieu Vu De temples and the shrine of craft founder Nguyen Kim Lau, recognized as a national historical relic.
Dry season with comfortable temperatures. Fewer tourists on weekdays. It is especially recommended to visit the village during the festival period (from the 1st to the 3rd day of the fourth lunar month) to see traditional processions and performances in the Cheo and Ca Tru genres.
