The park is named after Ngo Gia Tu (1908–1935), one of the seven founders of the Communist Party of Vietnam. His life was short but filled with the struggle for the country's independence, which tragically ended during an escape attempt from Con Dao prison.
Today, the park serves as the "green lungs" of the city. The architectural design emphasizes comfort: landscaped paths are equipped with cozy stone benches, and ancient trees create deep shade even on the hottest days. In 2025–2026, the space was modernized: fences were removed to make the park as accessible and open to everyone as possible.
The dry season with moderate temperatures is ideal for walking and morning activities.
