My Son Sanctuary (meaning "beautiful mountain") is a large-scale archaeological complex built by the Champa Kingdom between the 4th and 13th centuries. This site served as the religious and political core of the empire, where the god Shiva was worshipped. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site offering a unique glimpse into the architectural mastery and history of ancient Southeast Asian civilizations.

What you need to know
The complex is famous for its unique construction technology: bricks were bonded not with conventional mortar, but with resin from the Dipterocarpus alatus tree, and then decorated with fine hand-carving. The architecture is divided into groups (A–H), each serving sacred functions. Despite significant damage during the Vietnam War, about 20 unique structures have been restored and preserved today, allowing visitors to imagine the former glory of the Champa Empire.
The dry season is the optimal time for a visit, as spring floods can inundate the valley and hinder access to the sites.
