The Dong Loc Junction Memorial Complex is a place of profound remembrance, located at the epicenter of combat on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. What you need to know
Dong Loc Junction (Ha Tinh Province) became a "coordinate of fire" in 1968: over 240 days, US aviation carried out about 48,600 raids here. On July 24, 1968, 10 female youth volunteers aged 17 to 24 tragically lost their lives here while clearing the road to supply the frontline.
What to see:
- Museum Exhibition: over 1,000 artifacts, including personal belongings of the fallen girls, documents, and military equipment (guns, airplanes, bulldozers).
- Bell Tower: a 37-meter, seven-story structure with a 5.7-ton bell offering panoramic views.
- Memorials: the cemetery of the heroic girls, the Victory Monument, a temple, and large-scale sculptural compositions.
The dry season provides the most comfortable conditions for exploring the open-air memorial sites.
