What you need to know
Spanning 850 hectares, the complex is a multi-tiered temple space:
Ha Temple (Lower Temple)
— where, according to legend, the Vietnamese ancestors were born from 100 eggs.
Trung Temple (Middle Temple)
— associated with the legend of the creation of the famous Banh Chung and Banh Day cakes.
Thuong Temple (Upper Temple)
— at the mountain summit, site of ancient rituals involving bronze drums.
Gieng Temple
— an 18th-century monument dedicated to the daughters of the 18th Hung King.
Be sure to visit the Hung Vuong Museum, which houses over 4,000 artifacts, including national treasures such as the Huu Cuong bronze drum and a set of unique belt buckles.
The most significant time is the 10th day of the third lunar month (usually April), when national celebrations and festive rituals take place.
