What you need to know
The temple is situated on the slope of Binh Dien mountain at an elevation of 37 meters. Visitors reach the main entrance via 100 stone steps. Founded by the monk Buu Phong, the temple has been repeatedly rebuilt: from the contribution of Chinese military refugees in 1679 to a large-scale reconstruction in classical Chinese style in 1829.
Inside the temple, you will find the main altar featuring Amitabha Buddha, as well as statues of Avalokiteshvara and other deities. One of the main relics is a reliquary containing a particle of Gautama Buddha's ashes. The complex grounds are filled with ancient stupas and sculptural compositions, including the Three Buddhas in postures of nirvana, birth, and meditation. In 1991, the shrine was granted the status of a national historical monument and is an integral part of the Buu Long complex.
