Vam Ray Temple is a magnificent example of Khmer Buddhist architecture located in Tra Vinh Province. Having endured through the centuries and undergone extensive restoration, it has once again become the center of spiritual life in the region. The temple is famous for its exquisite Angkor-Khmer style decor and unique 54-meter reclining Buddha statue.

What you need to know
The temple was founded over 600 years ago. Its modern appearance is the result of a large-scale restoration carried out from 2004 to 2010.
Main architectural features:
- Triumphal Gates (Tam Quan): intricate carvings depicting celestial beings Kyno and the sacred bird Krut.
- Main Hall: a gilded structure with four entrances, strictly oriented to the cardinal directions.
- Buddha Statue: a gilded reclining Buddha, 54 meters long, resting on a two-tiered pedestal.
- Cultural Heritage: the temple houses rare ancient palm-leaf manuscripts.
The temple serves as the center for major Khmer festivals: Chol Chnam Thmay, Dolta, and Ok Om Bok.
