The National Museum of Vietnamese History is a landmark state institution founded in 1958. Located in the very heart of Hanoi, the museum occupies two historical buildings, offering visitors a unique opportunity to trace the country's journey from prehistoric times to the era of modern independence. What you need to know
The museum is divided into two buildings located in the Hoàn Kiếm district, just a few minutes' walk from each other:
- Building 1 (1 Tràng Tiền Street): Dedicated to the period from prehistoric times to the end of the Nguyễn dynasty (1945). It houses rare artifacts of the great Vietnamese emperors.
- Building 2 (216 Trần Quang Khải Street): The former Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution, covering the country's history from the mid-19th century to the present.
The collection includes about 7,000 exhibits. The buildings are equipped with air conditioning, making the visit comfortable even during the hot summer months.
