Monkey Island (officially known as Hon Lao) is a picturesque 25-hectare spot located 17 km north of Nha Trang. The island's history began in 1975 when Soviet scientists brought the first macaques here for scientific research. Today, it is a popular recreation area where visitors can observe the lives of two monkey species in the wild, enjoy circus performances, and relax on a well-maintained beach.

What you need to know
The island is inhabited by rhesus macaques and long-tailed macaques. They roam freely in the forest area, so it is important to follow safety guidelines: do not carry crinkly bags or food, and avoid direct eye contact while showing teeth (a wide smile).
Main attractions:
- Circus shows: take place at 10:00, 14:00, and 15:15.
- Entertainment zones: themed areas Monkey Kingdom and Monkey Racing.
- Activities: inflatable water park, kayaks, snorkeling, and go-karting.
- Beach: equipped area with canopies and sun loungers for comfortable swimming.
